I’ve just received my order of squid liver, so decided to go do a quick over nighter after work at a local club lake. I arrive at the lake at about 10:30pm was pretty dark by then, so didn't have the change to walk around and find the fish, so ended up fishing a swim that I know normally fish's well.
Anyways got the house set up, and the rods set up. Cast one of my rods in the direction of a fish that was jumping when I was setting up, about 50yds to my left, with a pva ba...

First time success with GULP! Tiger nuts
It was 7:00 am on the 31st of august and the weather wasn’t sure what to do as the early sun opened up the world of my local water. It was good to be out on the bank after a few weeks of hectic work and it was even better to be doing my first session as a member of the GULP! Carp army. First thing first was to walk around the lake and try to find the carp, with little signs of carp any where this was proving to be a hard task. After...

I have been fishing for over 20 of my 27 years, 10 years of which has been dedicated to carp fishing...my second greatest love! Obviously the love of my life is my wife and family (If I don’t say that my days of fishing will be numbered). I have 4 children, 3 girls and a boy as well as my pet pooch Milo. Although all of them have accompanied me at some point on my fishing trips and to some extent have caught
the bug for it, it is Milo who is my faithful companion and hot...

July 18th
Last week was the first time I fished my new swim, when I woke up the following morning without a bleep I could see that the fish had either been in the swim feeding or at least nearby as the eel grass at the back of the swim was all floating, Now I'm not 100% on this but I just had a feeling that something had happened.
The bait up continued every other day with around 1-2 kilos of boilies on the spots, I'd noticed half way through the week that the close...

The ‘Breamy Common’ - Silvermere Session 1 as a new recruit of the Gulp! Carp Army, by Nick Owen

Having been accepted as a new recruit, I duly placed an order of bait and waited with anticipation for it to arrive. Silvermere is a 3.5 acre mere in the middle of a very busy Golf Course with only a head of 21 known carp. A lot of Mainline baits have been piled into the mere by several sponsored anglers, so I was very keen to try something new. My order arrived and I quickly jumped in the car and headed for the banks to assess a pre-baiting routine.
A lot of fish had been s...

My son; Lee picked me up at 6 o’clock with Milo his springer spaniel. Off to the lake, as soon as we slowed down Milo was up looking out the window. I wound the window down for him, head out sniffing away, as we wound our way down the track.
A few lads where on so we parked up and went for a walk, as it was early we kept our eyes peeled for Mr Carp. See if we could see any sign’s of them having breakfast, as we walked passed some of the carp lads who where sound asleep. Noti...

The Draw
Well the opening ceremony went very well, topped by Ardy Verkamp pumped and
oiled, and mounted on a Roman chariot!
Ross Honey opened the official proceedings, and handed the microphone over to
yours truly to say a few words before the draw commenced. I spoke about the long
relationship that JRC has with the WCC, and thanked the organisers for their
hard work in the run up to the event.
The draw commenced at approximately 8pm and finished (160 pairs later...

Following my visit to Lake Bolsena back in June, I found myself finally
preparing for the 2012 World Carp Classic within about of week of the event
starting. I had to settle the score with Heather, and was excited about getting
back out there for the event to catch my first Italian carp.
The lake is vast over 14km wide with depths to 150m and has a natural head of
carp up to 32kg with 95% of them being gloriously dark Commons.
There was a late development however that...

Hellfire Shads Hammer Icelandic Cod & Coalfish

In a recent blog I mentioned the new Hellfire weighted shads that are about to be added to the expanding Shakespeare range of lures. Just to illustrate why I’m so excited about these lures, I was recently in Iceland and chose to use the Hellfire shads to target shore cod and coalfish and enjoyed incredible sport.
I was fishing Grimsey Island which lies some 30 miles off the north coast of Iceland with the Arctic Circle line cutting across the island on its northern end. It...
